Higher Education is a very important sector for the growth and development of human resource which can take responsibility for social, economic and scientific development of the country. In today’s knowledge based society, higher education has become a crucial issue in creating skilled and knowledgeable human resources to meet the forthcoming challenges of changing world. Though there has been a huge increase in the number of higher education institutions, but the overall scenario of our higher education is very dismal. One of the primary reasons behind this is the nonavailability of vocational and skill development courses at the higher education level which has been strongly advocated by the National Education Policy. There is gender and urban rural disparity with regards to access of higher education.
