The present study has been divided into eight chapters. The first chapter is introductory which includes rationale of problem, statement of the problem, terms/ concepts, perspectives, area of study, universe/ sample, methods of data collection and methods of data analysis. The second chapter deals with an overview of select literature on education and social change. The third chapter deals with the area of study in detail. The forth chapter takes note of socio-economic background of Scheduled Castes at selected area in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh which include sex, age, marital status, family size, family type, education, occupation, income and place of living. The fifth chapter takes account of educational change in the life of Scheduled Castes in terms of development of education, social life, economic life and political life. The sixth chapter analyses the factors contributing to change the major among them being age, income family type and education. The seventh chapter deals with six specific case studies in both selected area. The last chapter deals with summary and finding of the present study.
