UNDERSTANDING THE SELF

Description

This book is a joint effort of academia pan India in the form of contributed chapters. The idea of developing a work like this has emerged from the inclusion of a section on ‘Understanding the Self’ in the teacher education curriculum of secondary education, implemented in the year 2015 by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) which was implemented by all universities and colleges of teacher education in the same year. Developing identity and understanding the self of an individual has always been a complex process. Unless we understand the concepts of identity, self and other related issues, we cannot give precise inputs as teacher educators in the development of professional identity of teachers. For internalizing these thoughts the inception of this collaborative literary work took place. It is developed to share thoughts with the teacher educators as well as teacher-trainees. The intention is to tinker their thought process in order to understand the spectrum of their own self. The ultimate aim is to engage teachers and students of teacher education to reflect the attributes of their ‘self’ in their teaching and learning process. Hope this work will prove to be beneficial for all of us. Any suggestion for improvement are always welcomed and appreciated.
